I Made Something

Well, it's not much, but I made something yesterday and today. It's an ornament, and I'm giving it to Stephanie. She's been receiving embroidery ornaments (88 so far) from a non-profit organization called Angels For Hope, a group of people who make and send embroidered angels and other embroidered ornaments to people who have had a tragedy happen in their family. I don't know how they find out about who needs the angels, but Stephanie has been receiving them from all over the world, even as far away as New Zealand. I think it's a lovely idea, and she told me that every time she gets one in the mail, it's almost like getting a message from Tom. Anyway, she has bought a special Christmas tree for Tom this year, and she'll be putting all the Angels for Hope ornaments on it, as well as homemade ornaments that she and the children will make. Well... I run in terror from sewing machines, so couldn't make an embroidered ornament, but I wanted to make something. I made this:

It's just card stock in various colours, cut out and wrapped around with gold thread. I covered one of the star shapes with the last of some beautiful iridescent paper Gran had given me. You can see the iridescence better in this picture:

I will give it to her tomorrow. I hope she will like it. I enjoyed making it. It was nice to feel some enthusiasm for a craft project again!

Her dad survived the surgery, by the way, and is safely home, much to her huge relief.
