Success
Well, I did it. I am now Red Cross certified in CPR and First Aid!!! And I discovered two things today:
1) I like learning.
2) I am GOOD at learning.
I was really surprised/impressed that I scored 100% on the test at the end. It was really easy, and I thought everyone would get 100%, but only one other person did. So I've had a nice boost to my self-esteem today. I had forgotten, since it's been so long since I was in school, that I used to base a lot of my self-esteem on doing well in my classes and getting good grades. I'd really like to get back into taking classes of some sort, preferably things I'm interested in. That's the nice thing about having my degree already - I don't have to take any classes I don't want. :)
I even thought for a while, today, about the possibility of getting into nursing. I am fascinated by medical type stuff, and there's a part of me (perhaps related to Florence Nightingale!) that has always wanted to do nursing. But then again, there's also the part of me that gets squeamish at the sight of needles, blood, open fractures, etc, and that's what has always kept me from going that route. But after today, and feeling a little more confident in myself and my ability to accomplish things I want, I may give it some more consideration.
